1st Volunteer (Hallamshire) Battalion Officers Service Dress Badge 1902 to 1908

This is another example of the third pattern Tiger and Rose badge to this battalion but this is in cast bronze and is an Officer Service Dress (OSD) badge.

The Tiger is set within a scroll and laurel wreath with the words ‘York and Lancaster’ and the words ‘1st Vol Battn’ are cast as an integral part of the badge below the Tiger.

When khaki service dress was introduced into the British army in 1902, OSD badges were also introduced which in turn led to this short lived and uncommon badge.
