1st Volunteer (Hallamshire) Battalion Badge 1897 to 1908-2nd pattern

This is the second pattern Tiger and Rose badge to this battalion and being a volunteer badge, it is of reversed metals to that of the regular battalion’s badge.

The Tiger is set within a scroll and laurel wreath made of white metal with the words ‘York and Lancaster’. The Coronet is in gilding metal as is the rose but the rose has a white metal centre. A small plaque with the words ‘1st Vol Battn‘ is soldered below the Tiger. The badge has an oblong sweat hole behind the Coronet and one large and 4 small round sweat holes behind the Rose.

This badge is on loops, no examples are known to exist with sliders.
