1st Volunteer (Hallamshire) Battalion Badge 1897 to 1908-1st pattern

This is the first pattern Tiger and Rose badge to this battalion and being a volunteer badge, it is of reversed metals to that of the regular battalion’s badge. The Tiger is set within a scroll and laurel wreath made of white metal with the words ‘York and Lancaster’.

The Coronet is in gilding metal as is the Rose but the Rose has a white metal centre. The badge has an oblong sweat hole behind the Coronet and a small round sweat hole behind the Rose. This badge is on loops, no examples are known to exist with sliders.
