1st Volunteer (Hallamshire) Battalion Badge 1900 to 1902

This is another example of the first pattern Tiger and Rose badge to this battalion however this example has had its loops removed and replaced with a pin fixing.

It is believed, although difficult to prove conclusively, that badges fitted with this type of fixing were used on the Wolseley or Pith Helmet.

This being the case, the only occasion this battalion saw foreign service during this period was during the Boer War between 1900-1902 and it is possible that this badge was used during this conflict.
