1st Volunteer (Hallamshire) Battalion Badge 1897 to 1908-3rd pattern

This is the third pattern Tiger and Rose badge to this battalion and being a volunteer badge, it is of reversed metals to that of the regular battalion’s badge.

The Tiger is set within a scroll and laurel wreath made of white metal with the words ‘York and Lancaster’. The Coronet is in gilding metal as is the rose but the rose has a white metal centre. A small plaque with the words ‘1st Vol Battn’ is stamped as an integral part of the badge below the Tiger.

The badge has an oblong sweat hole behind the Coronet and a large round sweat hole behind the Rose. This badge is on loops, no examples are known to exist with sliders.
