Brooched Badge 1897 to 1903

Type 2 Tiger and Rose Badge.

This is another example of the Tiger and Rose badge but this badge has had its loops (which dates it as 1897 to 1903) removed and replaced with a pin fixing.

It is believed, although difficult to prove conclusively, that badges fitted with this type of fixing were used on the Foreign Service (or Pith) Helmet and were fitted to a Puggeree (a piece of cloth wrapped around the helmet). This being the case, it is likely that this badge was worn in the Middle East or Asia by one of the regular battalions.
