1960s Bush Hat 65th Badge

This photograph shows soldiers of the 1st Battalion in Cyprus in 1967 (just prior to disbandment). They wear the olive green bush or jungle hat with a battalion patch sewn into the left hand side. The patch was a red square with the number 65 embroidered in white.

This badge should not be confused with the WW2 Pagri badge used on the Foreign Service Helmet and on the Slouch Hat which is of a similar design.

The soldiers can be seen to be using the 1958 pattern webbing and the 7.62 Self Loading Rifle.
