84th of Foot Officers Regency Shako Plate 1826 to 1829.

On a silver star is a gilt laurel wreath. Inside that is a strap with the words ‘YORK AND LANCASTER’ in gilt on a blue enamelled background.
In the centre of the strap is a red enamelled background with the number ‘84’. Unlike the earlier version that has the NIVE battle honour, this version does not have a rose in the centre.

The laurel wreath and strap are surmounted by a gilt Coronet and below the wreath is a silver scroll with the word ‘INDIA’.

As the battle honour INDIA was awarded to the regiment in 1826, this version must have been made on or after that date.
