Other Ranks Collar Badge 1961 to 1968

This pattern of badge was made in Anodised Aluminium and was the 4th pattern. This relates to the fourth pattern collar badge known as 18498/1961, records of which are contained in the National Archives.

The idea of these ‘Staybright’ badges was that they required no polishing thus reducing the amount of time soldiers needed to spend on cleaning their badges. 19

They were worn during the period that the 1st battalion was a part of the Yorkshire Brigade as well as by the Hallamshire Battalion.  Some South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force units continued to wear this badge on their No 2 Dress until 1985.
